Tuskegee Veterinary Medical Alumni Association

The TVMAA was established when a small group of alumni of the School of Veterinary Medicine joined together to show their appreciation to their Alma Mater (Tuskegee University) for providing them a quality education and to find a venue where they could maintain connections with their Institution. In 1961, the TVMAA was organized at the AVMA Convention in Detroit, Michigan under the presidential leadership of Dr. Edward T. Braye, ’52.

Realizing the importance of a strong alumni association, the TVMAA was incorporated under the presidential leadership of Dr. Adam E. McKee, Jr. ‘58. Over the years, the TVMAA has been a strong supporter of the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine.

The TVMAA proudly supports the Annual Veterinary Symposium as a partner and is actively involved in several areas. The T.S. Williams lecturer at the Annual Symposium is another one of the Association’s initiatives to identify a person who represents the ideals of Dr. T. S. Williams, the second dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Dean Williams focus for the veterinary program emphasized the highest standards of scholarship and teaching. Previous T. S. Williams speakers are: Dr. Rebecca Kirby, Dr. Robert Shomer, Dr. Harold Davis, Dr. Michael Blackwell, Dr. Arthur Davis, Dr. Jack O. Walther, Dr. Irving W. McConnell, Dr. Bonnie V.
